Is UPS hiring drivers again?

I just heard a friend of a friend told me that UPS is starting to hire new drivers again. What's going on in your center?

I hope this is true. I want to drive sooooo badly. I'm sick of squabbling for 15 min of extra work with lower seniority people and my sup. Is the initial driving test still given in a truck with a manual transmission?

Our center is hiring several this year. It's been 4 years with no new hires. Looks like seniority for PT to FT is about 6-7 years to get a FT driver job!

We don't have any trucks with manual transmission. However, the driver training class we send our drivers too uses an old POS manual truck for training.

Actually, look at a map of North Dakota and Montana. Most of the centers that are in the Bakken shale formation are hiring FT drivers, off the street.
