I'm kinda glad Manchin will be there to stomp the brakes on even more big spending after a couple more trillion dollars have been tacked onto the national debt via reconciliation for the "infrastructure" bill.
People and corporations love it when government spends money. This is going to have overwhelming support.

He won’t. Democrats will sweeten the the deal to West Virginia and Manchin will quite frankly be bought off.
Everything is a negotiation.
Manchin won't have to worry about re-election if he votes to weaken/kill the filibuster and for everything the Democrats want to push through outside of the reconciliation process as long as West Virginia gets what?

Good question. I’m thinking operatives are taking the pulse of West Virginians right now to figure out exactly what that would be. We’re still only 3 months into the Harris Administration. Plenty of time. Maybe even push it off until the summer of ‘22 when they push through a massive job creating spending bill and dare republicans to run against it.

He’s 73 now, he’ll be 77 by his next election. He may not run for re-election to continue to serve until he’s 83.

Think some economic experts are already concerned about the potential for inflation between the imminent pandemic recovery and return to normal life, the latest stimulus bill and the infrastructure bill.

Might we really be talking about a massive new jobs-related spending bill next summer?

Time. It takes time and repetition for people to understand. In this case all they need to be shown is that they aren’t weakening or killing anything.
And if Manchin allowing reconciliation to go forward by this interpretation brings a flood of new business and opportunities to West Virginia, well in that case the senator has done quite well by his constituents. And republicans will unleash a culture war against him but he’s faced that in every election.
And the reason I think this is all in play? Because Joe Manchin didn’t have to say anything. He could have been vague but he wasn’t. In fact he very publicly tee’d it up for all to see. He put the spotlight on himself. He made himself and his state a huge barometer. Win popularity for bill and win it in West Virginia and the bill will pass. Manchin isn’t an idiot. He knows senate rules and their interpretations change and he knows he’s in a make or break position. He’ll milk this one, but at the end of the day he’s still a politician.

Ok. Your real act is that you’re not part of the radical right. That is cute!! You don’t pull it off, but it’s cute that you try.
I'm not part of the radical right, that's for sure. You pretending to not be part of the radical left is cute though... :devil3::tt2:

Actually Manchin became a senator when WV was a blue state. It has gone red and he has to walk a fine line. If he voted with the rest to kill the filibuster which would lead to all kinds of "progressive" legislation passed, his career in WV would be over. The only reason he's held on this long is people like him personally.

When all the progressive legislation helps the citizens of West Virginia, he’ll be fine if he even wants to run again.

Then they'll have to dump a lot of money there. Y'all have pretty much killed coal, remember?
Exactly. Democrats want to spend a crap load of money. West Virginia is small potatoes. Texas will be cashing in big time. 2024 election is just around the corner...

Do you believe politicians are for sale? If so, who has the deepest pockets?

Remember how democrats always thought that maybe they could swing a few republicans to their cause? How much easier is it now that they are in power and have to swing one of their own?

Since when has being old kept someone out of the senate? He will be there until he dies like the rest of them, if they can hold onto power.
Hell you even had one walking around with a compromised brain from tumors doing stupid things.

Inflation? I doubt it’ll be impactful. The global nature of the economy as well as the fed and world banking systems will do everything and then some to control it. And what if it’s 3 to 4%. Terrible? Probably not.
