It's a destabilizing force on countries. Polygamy nearly always ends up with multiple women to one man, the problem with that is math. one guy has four wives means three men have NO wife. Nuclear families are literally the building blocks of society. Men work harder, and are more willing to fight to protect them in war if needed. a familyman has a strong incentive to maintain a safe, and successful society. "Leave a better world for your children than the one you inherited."
Single men, however have no incentive to do anymore than the least amount of work to take care of himself. He would basically check out of society, and (at best) smoke weed, and play videogames all day, while working at Pizza Hut, or something. At worst, he joins gangs, and rebels against the society that doesn't give him purpose.
