The party has done pretty good when you consider it's performance during WWII and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Sure, the departure from Biden's Afghanistan was bungled same as Ford's Vietnam . So what do they have in common? The money for it would soon be cutoff . And if Putin were to take a nuke shot anywhere in Central and Eastern Europe nobody's going to worry about Afghanistan. If fact we can already see how it's faded out of the picture.

All it takes if not a direct hostile action by Putin but rather an unforeseen incident. If he makes a move against NATO it's expected to be against the Northern European members which helps to explain why Sweden and Finland want in NATO. If you happen to notice what Putin said on the news. He said that if Sweden and Finland were to join the consequences would be in his words....."unpredictable".

Nobody including the Pentagon has anything more than an an educated guess as to his military strength. Also, Russia has military conscription so he has manpower and plenty of nukes with widely varied yields and nobody knows what his inventory of biological and chemical weapons consists of.
