Those are primarily first strike options. There will still be boots on the ground and aircraft in the air after. What’s left of them anyway. And that’s “near peer” superpowers going at it.
Yes, but perhaps leaning more toward defensive in nature. Second only to the loss of life the greatest losses incurred in a war are economic and environmental in nature. As Colin Powell pointed out in an interview he believes that nuclear weapons will never be used again because of their capacity to render the planet uninhabitable .

I’m surprised mandatory military service isn’t a thing here. Many countries do it.
It's a good idea. Less likely to get into dumb wars but greater readiness to fight truly defensive ones, greater social cohesion and discipline, healthier popn, guaranteed work for awhile, etc. a lot of great benefits.

I read something where almost a 1/3 of fighting age American males were unqualified for medical/obese/criminal non waiver reasons.

Judge me.
Instead of all the ad shaming , why not pay attention to what military planners are saying? WWIII will be a cyber and satellite war. The objective will be to destroy the enemy's economy and satellite communications. Nobody has the money to rebuild the cities of the defeated enemy. Therefore you want to preserve as much of the defeated enemy's infrastructure as possible.
War will always boil down to one thing. A MAN on the battlefield, with a gun.

Nukes can be used tactically without all out nuclear war. And without rendering an entire planet or country uninhabitable. Most of the war games the military conduct start out as very limited nuke exchanges (or less) or one or a few nukes used as EMPs.

Powell was likely referring to Cold War era “MAD” scenarios where us and the Soviet Union would go tit for tat before being forced to launch everything due to not knowing the extent of the other side’s launches.

You seem to be omitting the most important component of your scenario..... escalation . You take out my division . I take out your central command. You take out my air assets. I take out your navy. You take out largest my city. I take out your capital And so on and so forth.

That’s precisely what I was talking about in the second paragraph.

Not really beyond the kicking your butt statement.
Why the need to delineate, every downed airman bleeds the same red blood, regardless of heritage,
Just my opinion.

Call me a jackass.
I mean as opposed to the woke Army ads. The General himself wrote the script for this as.

I did like it, don't get me wrong, I just don't understand the need to separate or define airman.
I have a former girlfriend, whose son I love, he flies Harriers in the USMC, they are both hispanic by ancestory, both Marines.
One is active, his mother is just a fantastically beautiful Marine, both American, that's it.

I don't mean to be the jackass that I am to you, I understand where you are coming from.
In light of the Army ads, I agree with you.

There are a lot of Hispanics in the Marines. Not many of them are woke. At least the ones I knew.
