Net Neutrality

Inordinately Right
The internet has been going down hill for a long time. Us Boomers could live without it if we had to (unless we drowned in the tears of the Millennials).
Most baby boomers would be living in their kid's basements in retirement if not for the gains their 401k's made because of technology stocks.

Most boomers are relying more on their home's equity than their 401k.
If so, that's terrible and a major condemnation of Boomers.
I am a Boomer (1954) but grew up very poor so I tend to think more like the Silent generation when it comes to finances and living within your means.

Gen Z, iGen or Centennials: Born 1996 and later. Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 to 1995. Generation X: Born 1965 to 1976. Baby Boomers: Born 1946 to 1964. Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before.

I am also a Boomer (1961) but while all of our material needs were met our wants weren't.

I am a frugal person and will have no problem enjoying my retirement with funds from my pension, rolled over 401k and SS (67).

I could live without TV and Phone before I could live without broadband Internet access.

I did say "if we had to"---not that I would want to. I can't imagine having to go back to the dark ages and actually having to buy porn.

Advocates ready legal showdown with FCC on net neutrality - Reuters

Net neutrality advocates said they are gearing up for a legal fight after abandoning attempts to convince the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to keep 2015 rules aimed at maintaining an open internet.

The FCC is expected to vote on Dec. 14 to scrap the landmark so-called net neutrality rules championed by Democratic former President Barack Obama, given FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and two Republican commissioners support the repeal.

Advocates for the rules doubt the U.S. Congress will help prevent a repeal, leaving litigation as a last resort.

The FCC just repealed net neutrality. What happens next?

During this time the FCC will point out that despite having voted in new regulations, the internet has not devolved into a corporate free-for-all. Of course it hasn’t, since the rules haven’t taken effect yet. They will point out that companies could start changing policies or making announcements ahead of that event, but for reasons we’ll go into later, that’s extremely unlikely, even if said companies do have evil intent. At any rate, don’t be fooled.

Oh, the shame .
Meeting wasn't going their way , so someone called in a bomb threat . Just like a cry baby would .
People need to learn that they can't win every fight and adjust to it .

It will be fine

Another Trump policy that was poorly conceived and poorly executed. It will go to court for the FCC not following basic standards for regulatory changes. Most of the public comments were created by bots. Will this government ever recognize the problems being created by AI?

So the FCC voted to kill #NetNeutrality admitting they care more about enriching their corporate sponsors than listening to 83% of Americans. This isn't over. BOMBARD Congress with calls & tell them to defend the free & open internet OR ELSE. Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Again, what popular legislation do republicans support?

republican legislation at the national level fits two categories

It’s either pro the rich and huge corporations.

Or it is anti some group of Americans that republican voters hate.
