Not what i thought when i qualified

Not...
I know im low in seniority but is it the norm of a newly qualified driver to drive only two or one day out of the week? Im starting to regret taking this leap but im trying to be patient. I ask for work from other drivers but my sup seems not to want me to work in the blind at all. I feel like i qualified to work local sort because most days thats what i do.
Depending on where you live I would recommend division ng for Uber on your days off. I did it my first year and I made some decent money. Plus it's flexible. I'm sure people will say oh well it outs wear and tear on your car. It's true but I calculated all that in and made about $15 an hour. Better than sitting at home with no income.

Hang in there. Be willing to learn any route you can, especially those with a bid driver willing to take days off. Also get to know all the other drivers in your work group with less seniority and make sure to let your on-car know you want to work first. Its up to you to watch who's working when you aren't, and many times they play the guy with less seniority knows the route game. Good Luck

Not sure what I would've done if my center didn't have full time work for me after qualifying. I had to quit a good full time job I was supporting my family with. I actually had to quit at the start of my 30 days not even knowing if I'd qualify because most jobs don't just let you leave for a month to go try something. Would've been very tough situation. My wife was a stay at home with a 6-month old.

Ask around before PCM who'd like to let you learn their route so they can take days off. Plenty of drivers at my center with decades in would love to have a personal cover guy for their route and work only 2-3 days a week.

If you really want consistent work, you can be the guy drivers hand their board to when they need to handle something or want time with the kids. And they really appreciate that.

You've gotta start in the blind somewhere. And you'll get plopped out there eventually either way. Sups will cringe at the temporary hit to ORION numbers, but appreciate having had that bandaid ripped off in the long run.

Sup should suck it up and ride with him if he's really concerned.

Did some sat air today. I've been across so many county lines today. Sat air is kind of intense. You have to make sure you run it right or you will find yourself back tracking and then that will cost you alot of time

Find out who goes home everyday and learn his route.
This. Find out who the drivers are that will go home 4 days per week if allowed to. Every single center has a few of em. And learn those routes. Somehow talk management into allowing you to run one of those routes blind or ask to ride with one of the drivers one day. The former is much more likely. Once you learn one of those routes try to weasel your way into the other routes in the loop. Stay patient we've all been there.

I qualified FT back in Jan and haven't been laid off a single day. 55-60 hours every week and I'm last on the seniority list.
Every center is different. That's the thing. Upstate Dave works in the Bog where it's pixie dust and rainbows everyday. Punched out at 6pm every night and the hourlies and management all sing Kumbaya every morning instead of having a PCM.

I'm still amazed at some of the things I read on here how different things can be from local to local, center to center. I read on here last week, something about the bottom 10% FT drivers, in a certain local have no guarantee of working. That's crazy.

I've just qualified in April. Did the train route for a month and was scratching at the end as I learned the area. New route last week was a struggle had to get help everyday. Now the driver l was covering comes back. So I only ly know two routes. Alot of new drivers coming on and not.enough sups to train them. So I guess I won't be working too much from now untill they train me on others. I'm not down for doing a route blind unless I know the area. 10 years pt and now a part time/ full time driver lol
