Pulled by horses. Tracks used to go down the middle of my street. Also used to have electric buses that had overhead wires for power. Early 1960's.US used to have a public tram system which i believe automakers ripped up 100 years ago or so.
Parked mine and never thought about it....Plugged in my car before bed last night and woke up to a full charge this morning.
No. Make the people who want it....pay for it....leave the rest of us out of it.they should charge $0 to use it. it would incentivize people to use something much more efficient that private cars.
LA used to have a good subway system, until companies like ford and firestone sealed it up so you would have to buy cars.US used to have a public tram system which i believe automakers ripped up 100 years ago or so.

Why in the world would anyone want an EV unless they were an environmental fanatic? If you'll notice, I haven't said a thing about the environment in this entire thread. I don't care who is a hypocrite. I don't support EVs for any environmental reason whatsoever.
I'm an investor and a car owner. EVs are the biggest win I can think of for either category.
They are superior at the task. They will win. An evil genius who is a once-in-a-century intellect is running the operation. That's my entire point. He will win. That's it. I haven't actually even argued that's a good thing.
But EVs get rid of my trips to the mechanic and the gas station. I don't need regular maintenance, and I don't stop anywhere for fuel. In fact, my house produces all the fuel that I need. That can't be replicated with another technology. Improvements will make it dominate. These are simply facts. You wont' have the choice of whether you adapt.
Hybrids make a lot more senseWhy in the world would anyone want an EV unless they were an environmental fanatic?
The price and severe limitations and utility is why they are such a miserable failure(this is settled fact).
Confirming your enthusiasm for EV's is based on an investment return....gosh just loses all credibility.
BTW, I see 100's of cars everyday.....maybe 1 in 1000 is a Tesla. The plain if not ugly design.....drawing my attention.
Right....what I do weekly....you do(in my scenario) everyday(or so).Passed folks at gas stations and never thought about that extra weekly errand.
Absolutely agree. MOF, I encouraged/helped my daughter to get a Prius. She loves it and going strong after 5 years. My recommendation based purely on mileage....not on any environmental concern. Pure costs.Hybrids make a lot more sense

It's the worst of both worlds. Expensive. only 50mpg. All the maintenance of gas. The bad performance.Absolutely agree. MOF, I encouraged/helped my daughter to get a Prius.
