Only 5% of next car purchasers expect to buy all electric cars-Road and Track.

They can, but it is less profitable to do so. Why would they take the less profitable route? They will when that is the next route left.

Don't try to tell the most profitable automaker in history how to do things. It is not the best choice for you. It is not the best choice for a lot of people. But they are the taking the route that makes the most money.

As a so-called conservative, I figured you might understand that.
Oops, triggered you. You've been saying that even Toyota can't compete with Tesla. That Tesla can charge what they want because they're superior in every way. Good luck!

Only a fake Texan would tell the people selling cars for 50,000 to $100,000 that they'd be better off selling crappier versions for $30,000.

They can quite easily meet the Prius price point, and make a better vehicle at that price point. It is a trivial problem. Quite easy. But it makes them less money than dedicating all their resources as they currently are.
When people compare the 5th generation Prius they'll realize they can have a solid, reliable vehicle that not only will get them around on just electric but have a gas backup and it's sporty to boot. And given it's a Toyota it'll last with routine maintenance 15-20 years easily. No brainer. Even cowpokes in fake Texas can figure that out.

It is true. Tesla can charge whatever they want. And Toyota can compete on quality, but they cannot produce in volume or make profit on it.

Anybody can compete on quality. That's not hard.

Scale is the hard part, and it's what they can't do.

And the Tesla will last just as long, with no routine maintenance. And have better performance for more money. It is almost like they're for different consumers.

Why can't Toyota, the world's largest car manufacturer, produce in volume?

There are more customers at the lower price point. At what point does performance matter more than price if performance is good enough? For most people 220 horsepower and electric only driving around town is good enough.

General Motors said something surprising at its investor day in New York City on Thursday.
Fixing Teslas is a growing business for the 114 year-old auto maker.
That’s right. GM dealers are fixing Teslas. Since 2021, GM dealers have fixed more than 11,000 electric vehicle from Tesla, according to GM President Mark Reuss.

But, but, they require no routine maintenance!

These are largely people for whom a mobile service call has too long of a wait time. This is the kind of thing that happens when one company is growing and the other is not. GM can have all the sloppy seconds.

No one is even in the same universe as the autonomy that Tesla has achieved. That waymo can only work when they have deep and exhaustive maps and are following a predetermined route. They have no autonomy. They are following electronic tracks. It is a trolley with invisible tracks.

Tesla can go into a new city with no map or prior knowledge and navigate traffic as safely as a human.
