We had a driver get terminated for dui a few years ago. His lawyer told him everything was taken care of, think he had it knocked down to wreckless driving. But because he didnt report the dui before his next work day he was fired. Our driver sup told us he would of worked inside bldg until he received a hardship license. Alot of cops love giving dui's, they could care less if you lose your job. 5 beers in 4-5 hrs shouldnt be a dui unless your 12 yrs old and weigh 70 lbs

You don't get a DUI because you had x amount of drinks in x amount of hours, you get a DUI because your BAC exceeded .08%. It doesn't matter who you are, how much you weigh, or how well "you" think you can drive after a few drinks. At .08% you are impaired and have no business being on the road with other drivers.

Cops don't enjoy giving DUI's. They know the consequences to you and your career/wallet. They also have seen the consequences of your poor decision to drink and drive. How would you like to have someone notify your parents that you are dead because of a drunk driver?

Usually it takes about 1 month to get you enrolled in the SAP program. ( at least in my area ) You need to meet with several people to asses your drug problems. Then they set up the program you need to help you to become a drug free productive member of society. You will be in the SAP program for at least 1 year. This could be extended for up to 5. Generally, if you follow all the rules and don't test dirty, you will do 1. You will be offered alternate work during the program. When you go to the required AA meetings please try to remember that not every one there has a nudge from the judge. Most of those folks have problems they have identified and are currently battling. While in their house follow their rules. in other words...take it serious. There are shattered family's involved with recovery and the last thing anyone needs is another issue. As you know DWI's effect a lot of people. Look at yours alone and how many people will now be involved. Try to learn from this, and never do it again. Good luck to you and all involved.

Read the next quotes. Jones and Upstate pretty much some up my thinking about what you said.

That's what happened in our bldg. One moved up and eventually gained seniority. The driver with the DUI worked split shifts and no one was displaced. He later returned to work after his DUI was reduced to a reckless driving charge 6 months later. He was also required to sign the customary "death notice" before being re-instated.

What is the "death notice"?

it's a paper that says you will remain alcohol and drug free while in the SAP. I've heard some management personnel think it's forever though
