I am sure that they are starting them off slowly and will increase those numbers incrementally.

They can't fit anymore stuff in their cars. They are all using compact cars. 20-30 stops and it's full.

For what it's worth. The PVDs are actually doing a good job so far. But I doubt it is saving us money over just using driver helpers.

I've never witnessed it, but the way the shippers act, it seems serious. I don't want to get in the middle of it, but have suggested they complain, and I make sure I take care of them the best I can. Based on who it is, I am pretty sure the supes know about it.

I have a couple of pick ups that apologize for shipping so much. I tell them it keeps me in a job, and not to apologize. Turns out the driver who prelims those stops yells at them for shipping so much. I understand getting a little overwhelmed with the work, but not screaming at the hand that feeds you. I've told them to let the other driver know they can save whatever they think is excessive for me to close out. No clue how that driver has managed to stay employed.

One is a UPS store, and I know the Sup knows the issues there. The other I have talked to the lead shipper about all the options for dealing with the situation. They told me the reason they stick with us is that we can accept air service packages later than FedEx, and because all the other drivers they deal with are great. Beyond that, if they don't feel the other driver's behavior is worth reporting, it's their call.

We normally have an air driver pick up the UPS stores early on Mondays. 100+ packages during the off months.

We had a driver who was bitching to our PDS about this—-the PDS offered to call all of her customers to ask them to stop ordering so much stuff.

Shortly before I retired I witnessed an argument between one of our drivers and our center manager over her dispatch. His response to her was priceless:

"Would you like me to call each and every one of your customers and ask them to stop using UPS?"

She walked away with no response.

Hmmm was it the PDS or the Center Manager?

Yep, just the prelim too. Could just take two packages if it's that big of a deal. Of course, I might not be ableb to contain at the close out, and the OMS wouldn't have time to send another driver to help, so, there's that.

Yes, carried a set out to mine last week, which he then gave me the 40in waist pants he had already been given, saying they were too small.

Coats are no longer available. We have guys wearing brown Dickies coats or NorthFace parkas.

I have been a PVD for 2 weeks now, I have a tacoma 4 door with a hard bed cover I get around 50 to 70 packages each day, i just pile them up and strap them on where i can, we have had good weather lately so no problem. We do have to shave where I work, we have not got any uniforms yet, I got a seasonal helper vest and a plastic sign for my truck. I was told we have to join the union and pay a $200 fee, it is supposed to come out of our checks. I get $21 an hour plus $.58 a mile. I like doing it, it is temporary which is great for me, I also drive Uber and Lyft but it is pretty slow in the winter so this works for me. I have not had any issues with the regular drivers, I dont get to the hub until 9:30 or so to make sure Im not in the way loading. We dont get just the small easy stuff either, I have to load my truck like a puzzle sometimes to get it all. My route is an hour from the hub so I cant make multiple trips. Im sure the full time guys on here dont like us but I believe most of us are hard workers and take it seriously, thats my $.02 worth thanks for the read
