The company pays toward our healthcare——it is up to the union as to whether we pay part or all of the premium.
This is language in our local rider
The Employer and the Union further agree that if an increase in pre-
miums is required to maintain the present benefits of the health and
welfare and dental plans, the Employer shall contribute such addi-
tional amount called for by the Trustees to pay the amount the pre-
mium has increased, and shall correspondingly reduce the employ-
ees net wages an identical amount.

Not really.

The Union has cost projections from the various plans, and negotiates the

amount needed to cover that. Remember.... "not $90, $9 or $.09" ?

Your mileage may vary, depending on which plan you are covered by.

How would you know if it was gonna be a “brief” work stoppage or not?

You don’t

You’re right—I don’t; however, time it just right and it should only last one day.

Don't you know that he knows it all by now?

It’s called common sense. We shut it down for one day and they would be pressured to abandon the PVD program.

Of course, we would get unmercifully slammed for the remainder of Peak.

Last I heard our local’s health plan had an 18 month surplus.

Common sense in an uncommon situation. No such thing....sorry.

I'm guessing that FedEx is ramping up to cover the overflow when Amazon says "screw you" for even considering a work stoppage during peak season.
They are absolutely not going to put up with it.
If that is the case I doubt if we'll be slammed for the rest of peak. Sorry.

@BigUnionGuy seems to think there will be some news on the subject at the conclusion of the "two man meetings" this week in Washington DC.
Well, that meeting went well...
