Question: Cover probation and things that can disqualify you?

This is a question for all the Vet's, I just started my probation period for cover (on week 3 obviously scratching the route since I had had prior air driving knowledge) and was curious as to what can disqualify you. I'm also curious as to how your lunch/breaks can effect your route? I made the mistake one day in driving back to the building and clocking it as a break but nothing was ever said. I asked a few of the guys in building and they said "to not ever move the wheel while on your schedule break and that it can automatically disqualify you". Just wondering as to what the do's and don'ts are so i'm prepped as to not trip at the finish line.

You punched break and started driving back and forgot to punch off break.

Simple mistake...you forgot....don't do it again.

I know a feedah driver that forgot to punch LV when he left his meet point. He drove 250 miles to his hub to discover he didn't punch LV.

He punched LV and sat for 2 minutes and then punched TA. So...his IVIS showed it took him 2 minutes to drive 250 miles. Nothing was said.

Not all of us are perfect Dave, nor can we be expected to be.

Service failures, (late air, missed pickups etc.) Having an accident, basically anything that could get you disciplined could disqualify you. Work safe but work quickly during probation, then relax once you're in.

No, he knowingly drove back to the building on his meal break to make his numbers look better.
Sort of. My manager told me I needed to ABSOLUTELY be in before 6. I punched in a break since I was waiting in traffic and figured it was free time. I didn't however know that breaks are supposed to be "uninterrupted" and the vehicle "non-moving" . Am I allowed to skip breaks?

FYI my meal/lunch are always taken each day. And usually between my 4-5 hour. Its my break in which i'm referring to

...on week 3 obviously scratching the route...

The OP said he is "scratching".
Can a person scratch more or scratch less?
Why would he intentionally drive on break?...so he can scratch more?

He made a simple mistake. If he doesn't make a habit of it (which I'm sure he won't) it will pass.

He simply got over zealous, trying to do a good job and forgot to punch off. Let it go.

Forgetting to punch LV is pretty common. After you get to rolling, you can't punch LV while the wheels are rolling. It will automatically (it used to anyway) roll over to the on road screen after a certain number of minutes going down the road.

He can be under scratch..

So help me understand what the OP could have done.

You know as well as I do the company uses fear and double bind stress (damned if you do, damned if you don't) to run drivers into the ground.

The kid is trying to qualify.
What's the difference between what he did and prospects that bring their lunch and sports drinks to suck down while they sort their load on "meal".
Both are "dishonest" but one is a little more apparent than the other.

I was told by a supervisor that I was required to punch out for my lunch before breaking trace, and get back on trace before punching back in. I asked who would be liable if I got into an accident off the clock. He said he would get back to me. Haven't heard a word since.

During my safety ride my sup said I had to punch out for lunch while we drove to the store...I said no we don’t...and we drove the 3 minutes to the store...don’t crash and no late air and you will be fine...I’d say skip your breaks but take your full hour lunch and the last 20 minutes of your lunch sort your truck PERFECT so you can fly the rest of the day...but once you’re off probation the only package you touch off the clock is your own while you’re locked in the back on porn hub
