60 months and counting
No, not Dave. I read this site for 2-years after another retiree told me about it. He wanted me to sign up and cut it up with him. So I lurked for the two years and I don't really know why I signed up today. I did however, and am just here to say 'hello' and state good times are ahead for all. A better life. No matter what your financial status might be.
You know any of the drivers or sups from the tri cities area???

Retirement is over -rated, most successful people in life work well into their 70`s and 80`s! At 57 with 30 years in retirement hasn`t evem crossed my mind. 7 weeks vacation a year is enough time to travel and rest up!
I assume you are either a feeder driver or management with that outlook. 30 years is plenty for a delivery driver if they want any chance at all of retiring healthy.

My insurance provider just sent me an update where the cost of my plan is $1,530.15 a month for medical with no prescription drug coverage .
Of which I only pay about 43% out-of-pocket .
There is another plan available at a lower costs but it would require a lot of extra driving for visits .
I get my prescription drugs from the Teamsters $5 @ 90 day supply .

Left the job back in March 2015 , had plantar fasciitis in both feet and even after surgery on one foot , the pain did not become tolerable until a few weeks ago .

$400 for everything! You got it made dude and yep! We are no different. We had a lunar eclipse here last week and I stayed up all night watching it. It felt GREAT!
I do have it made. I stay busy enough to keep the wife happy. She retired, too. So we do give each other space here and there so we can appreciate each other without smothering one another. The grand kids are close as well..Good luck!

These are rough guesstimates but just for future retirees to know because a lot of my co-workers didn't know that.

Keep preaching your knowledge to anyone who will listen. Early 40's here, trying to get my 20 yrs with UPS. I'm playing severe catch-up on retirement and the plan for us anyway is to live on 1 income with no debt / mortgage / college funds for the kids by age 50 and then save approx. an ADDITIONAL $1M by age 60. 2 pensions and Social Security will be a bonus if they are still around by then. With the current wave of socialism in this country who knows what laws will be in place over the next generation. Not to mention what the world will look like or how much things will cost. In any case, you can only control what you can control. And that means having NO DEBT or other obligations and try and save (in whatever form you think is best for your situation) as much as possible.

Best of luck for a long, happy, and healthy retirement! I hope to be there one day...

Brother......70+ is an average life expectancy until you are put to rest. And your body doesn't cooperate as well if you are 70-80 years old even if you have been taking good care of yourself.

I'm at 8 weeks vacation for a couple years now and take a couple (dozen) RLO's a year and it still isn't enough time away from this place.
50+/30+ in and I could never see myself staying past 55.

To each is own but have even more fun than you do now before you drop dead.

I agree.

I'm retired from UPS but i don't consider myself retired. We took a hobby and made it into a business that makes pretty good money. I only do it in the morning after walking the dogs until lunch and then take the rest of the day to do whatever. sometimes i'll do the side business all day. sometimes days go by where we do nothing on it. it's great freedom to do whatever we want.

Can not believe how fun it is. meeting nice people , travel to buy new projects , eating out a lot , and making good money is just a bonus for doing something we love.

as soon as i could retire from UPS , I did. ( 3 years now ) Barely ever think about the company anymore unless it is in the news.but i don't feel retired. just took the next step in our lives.
