RPCDs working the preload

gman042

Been around the block a few times
Well
We were allowed to until recently
Then one guy got us all kicked off
Now the preload is dying and some of our trucks are leaving an hour after sort down

what driver would want to work preload then go out and run a route all day ..

Gets you off the clock sooner
Less stops on road
Fairly basic....

Apparently no one has worked a driver sort before
Less misloads
Truck is loaded in a sensible manner

You're not necessarily loading your own truck. Typically brought into the jungle wherever you are needed.

We have a new center manager that is trying to get away from drivers working on the preload. He offered local sorters a chance to double shift and 1 or 2 are doing that. Bosses are getting sick of juggling people on the 9/5 list and then keeping the preload/drivers under 9 hours. Sounds like the guys that want longer days are going to get them in a package car.

Extra work does not count against your 9.5
Only on dispatched hours
Not until Friday when DOT hours are affected

Extra work does count. All hours worked count towards your 9.5.

The company and the local have more than likely have just come to a agreement that they won't count it as long as someone doesn't make a stink.

Wrong on that
Extra work is just that....extra
9.5 is only for dispatch on road hours

It's the Drivers work day. You're on the 9.5 list because you want relief from over time. Not because you want only a 9.5 hour dispatch when driving. If it were "dispatch" hours then it would go off your planned day. Not paid day.

I honestly don't care. I'm glad you guys have what you want.
