from what i've heard thru the grapevine (not sure of its validity), hoffa cut all of the potential ideas regarding 9.5's and work week hours out of the contract and stated he wanted drivers to work until 9p

Sorry but either you are trolling or you're listening to idiots who just really hate Hoffa.

Think about it. Why would Hoffa want drivers out till 9pm? More drivers out till 9pm means less drivers on the road. Less drivers on the road means less fulltimers. Union gets paid 2.5 x what we make a hour (some places more).

So that means the union wants more drivers on the road then less. 9.5 isn't going any where.

Not quite.

Teamsters United is the group that made that statement.

"Teamsters United proposed that all work after 9.5 be voluntary and drivers should have the right to return to the center after 9.5 hours worked.

Hoffa's Package Division sidelined this demand. Instead, they are proposing a 9 p.m. curfew for package drivers under Article 18
."

Wow. An 11hr curfew.

Big help David hasslehoffa

This will in no way fix the 9-5 issue. Center will continue to pay out and drivers will continue to miss seeing their family's.

Can you give us a percentage.... of the number of drivers (in your Local)

that are on the 9.5 list ?

Emotional pleas.... don't work in negotiations.

What does % matter. The ones that are on file and get paid.... after months. But being on the list doesn't help you getting home earlier

How is this proposal going to help us get home earlier to see our families.... it won't!

The percentages are also effected by the absence of solid language and remedies for the inevitable harassment that follows many who find the fortitude to exercise their rights under Article 37, in regards to the "9.5 opt-in list".

So @BigUnionGuy , many drivers are waiting to grow a set, until you do at the negotiating table.

If our drivers were out until 21:00 and were over 9.5 you can be sure the percentage of drivers on the list would be over 75-80%.
Slam dunk.
Most of them have kids and (believe it or not) wives/husbands they cherish.

@Bubblehead , do you think it's a sign of manhood to carry some other dudes "jock strap" or is it just an Up State New York fetish?

Inquiring minds want to know...or maybe not.

Things on paper often do not reflect real word applications. Most drivers are not out until 21:00 every day. The disruption in family life comes when The company intentionally makes every driver work well over 9.5 hours twice a week BUT the driver never knows which 2 days those will be! You can never count on being at Jr's soccer game, or chess tournament, or 'lil sister's recital or play. Forget about helping to coach Jr's ball team, or being den leader. You can not be counted on to "be there."
