I work for a contractor now after being with Express for 5yrs. I have my cdl so driving tractor trailers. I get paid a flat rate of 250 a day, benefits but they are horrible, usually finish work under 9hrs. Any extra stops they pay extra. It's not bad it's day hours but I'm still looking for another job as this is no future as they don't offer any retirement. It's not to hold me over till I find another job so it's working for me for now. Courier wise I hear and see posting that they get pending contractor $1.40-1.60 per stop. What is the base pay and any extra money for a certain days work. What do most contractors pay? Flat fee or hourly?
Extra stop would just be going to a stop to just swap trailers. I do 3 customers a day and it's about 270 miles.$250/9=$27.78/hr. Nothing wrong with that wage, especially since you are not handling packages.
Extra stops? Are you doing in town bulk pickups?

I believe I'm payed fairly for what I do. I'd be very happy with 260-270 for the day. But I doubt that'll ever happen. What would you consider to be a fair wage?

Who do you work for?I very rarely worked OT (even during Peak) and would gross about that much per day.
$25-30/hr is a fair wage for delivery drivers.

what about pension and insurance that’s the caveat of this job
You’re comparing apples to oranges
I retired after 30 years as a RPCD at UPS.
The pension should be administered by the company only. Benefits should remain the same with more of the burden shifted to the employees.
King of what? They make about much sense as running orion trace.
No, cut retirees benefits. They cant vote.I retired after 30 years as a RPCD at UPS.

Well you "worked" OT but didn't get paid for it. They miss your tireless efforts and free work.I very rarely worked OT (even during Peak) and would gross about that much per day.

150 stops, 177 packages = $130 gross; fair?
