Teamster Buyout?

UPS gets to choose the separation date between August 31st and October 31st. If you can't cover living expenses for a couple of months without a pension deposit then maybe you should not be retiring anyways.
Again you don't know what you are speaking about

If you do not get your retirement papers and approved in a certain amount of time, do you not be covered under your health care? And we'll have to buy cobra

I'm talking with a friend of mine and he says if you take the buyout he can continue to work until Oct 31st when his pension paperwork will be ready. My understanding is if you take it your employment is terminated immediately.

Your employment is not terminated immediately. You can still back out up until July 31. After that, there is no backing out but you continue to work until the separation date. And I believe UPS decides on that, although like @Johney said, they may work with you on the particular date.

Do you think they would really work with us on the separation date? August 31 is not enough time for pension paperwork.

I'd post the womenyappinguntilaguyfoceshertosuckitdown.gif but I'd get a ban
