Teamsters social media keeps saying that UPS is obligated to create 22,500 new FT jobs. But I don't think that's correct.

UPS has to fill 22,500 ft job openings. 7,500 of those will be new combo positions.

Still hate the guy--every time he makes a comeback. He is the ONLY poster on Brown Cafe that I can say I despise. I probably would have been off Brown Cafe years ago if he hadn't told me that retirees shouldn't be allowed here. That PISSED me of to no end. And he turns out to be the biggest hypocrite ever continuing to post after he retired.

$1,800/year is WAY too low. The only drivers who should even think of accepting this paltry buyout are those who had already planned on retirement before the end of this year. $54K ($43,200 after 20% Fed) would be a nice way to begin retirement. I knew the decision would need to be made quickly but 10 days is much too quick.

Look for the Company to up the ante when they don’t get their desired response.

The offer says its taxed as a bonus.

Perhaps but they’re a long way from that figure currently. Even guys that could leave tomorrow aren’t taking this offer in my building.

Those are the same guys at my building. Up to their neck in debt or have no family to go home to.

The Company will reassess on 8/1 and 9/1 and if the numbers aren’t where they feel they need to be they very well could up the ante. I wouldn’t bank on that but they came in to the buyout with a specific number in mind and will not stop until that number is met. Anyone who accepts their initial offer would not be eligible for “retro pay” if the Company goes to $2,500 or even $3K per year.

Tome is going to get blasted for the very low #’s that will trickle in.
Imagine that board meeting discussing those results.

Can’t wait for the corporate retaliation after they see the rejection this is going to be.
