You know some may just buckle belt behind them would that be funny

how did you deliver these stops when your seatbelt was on all day

Or if you bought a magnet for the door sensor. How was your bulkhead door closed all day?:wink2:

Also, had the On-Road with me all day today. He said a system was coming out where they'll be able to tell if you have the DIAD in your hand as you're moving. I said yeah, Telematics. He was like, huh? He thought that it was an actual software upgrade in the DIAD.

No where in the DOT or state regs do I see any reference to breaking trace as part of the lunch issue.

Maybe not Danny but DOT does say that when we are in that seat driving we are on duty. It's UPS's choice to abide in DOT regulations. Maybe choice isn't the most appropriate word to use but they do abide in DOT regulations.

So your telling me I'm going to have a system that tells them if I farted or sneezed when I unbuckle my seat belt or open bulk head door but I'll still be in my 1986 gmc with no power steering?

I can't believe they can hook this up to a truck that is 23 years old. I do however follow the rules. I don't think about moving the truck without my seatbelt on. The runners are the ones who don't close their bulk doors while driving. Seems like ups will lose time from these runners. Or the runners will be the one's getting canned.

No software. Your DIAD just loves you. It can feel your touch, Steve.

I have proof that I close my bulk head door 100% of the time.

The key fell off my keyring friday.

With the telematics the sups will download the information the following morning, post it on the bulletin board for everybody to see, whoever has the most occurances,(such as:too much backing, bulk head door open too much, not wearing your seatbelt,etc..)and then you will be called into the office with a union steward present, and you will recieve either a verbal warning,or a written warning depending on how many times you did the occurance,i dont agree the results being posted, and there should be some leeway on certain things, like backing,on some routes like mine,I back a good 85% of the time, because I have no choice, its a residential route.lots of long (500ft+) and common driveways.

Says who? I thought they had to physically observe punishable behavior.

I don't think they can tell if it is in your hand, but they can tell if it is on while you are driving.

Physically observe punishable behavior, yeah right, they can do whatever they want to do until someone puts and end to it. And if the sups really knew how the tellematics really worked they would check with automotive first before just firing the gun on someone!

I love my job very much, honestly. But I can't see why " THEY " give drivers a hard time about this, that and everything in between. The goal is to deliver safely, swiftly, and on time is it not? I believe the telematics are definitely good for automotive and I can see the good in it for the drivers too, but to look at a report while sitting down at your desk and thinking how much pain you'll deliver when the driver gets in is wrong, on a lot of levels. Give these DRIVERS the break they deserve!! They are the face of the company and communicate with the public, make sales leads and make kids like I used to be want to grow up and be a UPS GUY!! And now I'm here, albeit 3 years later and I wonder if any kid watching a ups truck wants to grow up and get a job with the company now!! Sometimes sups make drivers miserable and me as a mechanic can see it in the way they communicate with me in the DVIR book, talking to them and seeing the life just sucked out!!!
Well thats all I have to say, hope I don't offend anybody. Again like I said at the beginning of this rant, I love my job, love to come to work everyday, and am proud to say to people, I work on brownies and love it!!
I just feel if everyone could feel this way then the company would be a better place to work for.
