A real stretch. Too bad Obama's name wasn't George, then he'd get away with all of his "terrorism". How someone can compare a "hit" on Osama with a true terrorist who has killed thousands and plotted to kill many more, is simply amazing. What does the assassination of Osama Bin Laden have in common with Guantanamo Bay?
They're both intended to send a message that the United States has sunk deeper into savagery and abandoned any commitment to conventional norms of behavior. That's the message, and we hear it "loud and clear".
We don't need our Harvard-educated president to crow about his latest gangland "hit" to know that America has turned into a moral swamp. That's obvious in every area of policy, foreign and domestic. It's just that certain incidents draw more attention than others, like when a drone incinerates a home full of women and children in the Pakistani outback or when friend-16s reduce a city of 300,000 (Falluja) to rubble leaving behind a legacy of birth defects, cancer and grinding poverty. These are the real "headline grabbers", like shrugging off the sovereign rights of an ally, invading their airspace, and deploying special ops to conduct a Rambo-style massacre in a civilian section of town.
Booyah. You go America! U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A.

Besides, this whole act of political theater is nothing more than Gangland when you boil it all down anyway. If you want to start putting real numbers on the innocent people Osama bin Laden via Al Qaeda was responsible for killing, then by all means do so but to be consistent with condemning the killing of innocent people, you have to start counting the numbers President Peace Prize has killed. The Brookings Institute has pointed out for every so-called terrorist killed in drone attacks, 10 innocent civilians are killed as well and the totals as of July 2009' were around 600. What are they now nearly 2 years later? No wonder the vampire NeoCons cheer this President as they are still wallowing in a bloodfest and it's a hope and change President feeding them.

As Bruce Dixon at Black Agenda Report rightly points out, it's amazing what a difference 4 to 5 years and a major election can really make!

It may come to more than that. I just read this piece and what I found interesting are the comments about use taxes, who collects them and for what purpose. It goes along with war as a jobs program.

Somehow, the government expects to be able to create 100,000 jobs to bring down an unemployment rate at 14.7%. Perhaps they plan on hiring 100,000 new workers to go around the country and collect the tax.
It reminds me of what I saw in Bolivia a couple of weeks ago– there’s a tax or toll or fee for nearly everything you do. Driving on the highway (if you can call it that) outside of Santa Cruz, you pay a toll… obviously not for the maintenance of the road, but to pay the salary of the toll collector.
At the airport, you have to pay an airport tax before departure… obviously not for the upkeep and efficiency of the airport (it took 2-hours to make it to my gate), but to pay the salaries of the guys who collect the airport tax.
This is what politicians consider ‘job creation,’ yet these positions only serve to destroy value.
