The union vs it’s own members

So because your grandma lives in Harlan county you feel I've unfairly labeled her a racist with my statement? I don't believe I know your grandma , I just am going off what I know from personal experience.
The Democrats are nothing like the ones of old capable of winning statewide races in red states.
You have to admit in the last 20 years the Dem party has become unrecognizable. The entitlements they push carry no weight in a booming economy and they are totally out of touch with a large swathes of this country. That being said i agree with them on some points. I thought collective bargaining was a good thing and supported it. The Teamsters totally changed that perspective with this latest contract controversy.

POW-MIA.. never forget...
I was speaking about control of the state, not the presidency. How many Republican governors have there been in Kentucky?
How many times have the republicans controlled the state legislature? .
The original message I was bringing up was to the poster who said the poor in the south voted for republicans because they thought they would help them. I pointed out that in Kentucky they voted for Republicans despite the republicans saying they were going to slash the programs that were going to help them, and stated that there were people went that way because republicans played upon the fact that a black man was in control of the Democratic party for the last 8 years. Believe it or not there are people who are racist enough out there that they will cut their nose off to spite their face
You read into my reply to your post what you wanted to read, and turned it into a racial discussion with your claim about Kentucky whites voting Republican because of a black man in power for the Dems. You lumped all southerners into one category without any back-up other than "they told me so". The South was always Dem. up until the late 70's, early 80's, when the Dem party went off the rails and leaned Socialist, some might say even JFK himself would be a Repub. today. Enough of the politics, let's stay on whats important to us now, a fair and balanced contract for us all. I hope we all judge one another by character and not color..

Sometimes leadership has to save its members from themselves. It’s like poor people from the south. They will always vote republican because they think they have the best interest in mind when it’s far from the truth. The No voters are the poor voters who can’t see the forest from the trees.
slavery was started by the democrats dippy

The really odd thing to me is the pleasure the union seems to be enjoying by forcning this contract through. A reasonable person would think to themselves, geez we negotiated what we thought was the best deal for our members only to have the majority say that it’s not good enough. Maybe we should have done better. Instead, we as paying members, get told, sorry your vote really didn’t matter anyways as not enough people voted. Almost to a point that the union leaders enjoy this outcome. If anything they should be ashamed. Thousands more of its members said this wasn’t good enough. Thousands of paying members. The overall lack of thought from our top brass that maybe, just maybe, if they did a better job they wouldn’t have to force anything through.

Nope! It’s just easier to blame others.

It’s a bad time to be a member of teamsters.

The year the Teamsters died. DT didn’t just negotiate a horrible, unpopular contract, he put the nail in the Teamster coffin.

No I didn't. I specifically talked only about Kentucky and my belief as to why it has recently moved into a solid Republican in the governorship and statehouse during our last election cycle. How you and the others took it was on y'all. You all seem a little hypersensitive on the subject

I completely agree that the National Democratic party has made huge mistakes in ignoring statehouse races and governor races focusing only on the national elections

Wrong.
According to me in Kentucky, and I was speaking only about Kentucky that is what they did. I live here. I follow Kentucky politics closely, and specifically mentioned only in Kentucky. So stop twisting what I stated to fit into a blanket statement about Republicans.

Ok, I misunderstood, wasn't trying to twist your words. My original point was to ask whether the racists were voting Democrat before Obama became president. A lot of people want to believe that only Republicans are racist. You're saying the voters switched on their own, not because the Republicans were playing to their racism. That's what I wasn't clear on.

Huh? You make as much sense as this contract!!!!
