So what are they used for? Other then to have someone else to blame when the wheels fall off everyday.Problem with PT Sups is we don't train them.
You've got another 25 years to go before you can think of one here.
In my old building, they were the sort sups. We didn't have FTers. Here, I can't figure out what the hell half of them do and nobody will tell me.So what are they used for? Other then to have someone else to blame when the wheels fall off everyday.
You care enough to come on here and tell us about your runs up the Himalayas with triples and no heatI'm retired an dgaf.
I also wonder what a FT sort sup does when the sort only runs for 4 hours. Paper work?In my old building, they were the sort sups. We didn't have FTers. Here, I can't figure out what the hell half of them do and nobody will tell me.
Ours is a combo PDS/Preload. So cuts, monitoring flow, directing the PT Sups things that need to be fixed/changed, etcI also wonder what a FT sort sup does when the sort only runs for 4 hours. Paper work?
I was thinking more about Hub FT sups and managers who are only responsible for their one sort. And on Friday when the only Hub sort is Twilight and we only run 3 hours most of the time.Ours is a combo PDS/Preload. There is plenty of pre and post sort stuff that needs to get done. But I'm not well versed in how it works in the bigger buildings as I've never covered the PM.I was thinking more about Hub FT sups and managers who are only responsible for their one sort. "Plenty of pre and post sort "stuff" that needs to get done". Sounds just like me when my manager ask what I do for 5 hours. There is plenty of pre and post sort stuff that needs to get done. But I'm not well versed in how it works in the bigger buildings as I've never covered the PM.
I can explain it if you're really that curious. When I was preload sup it would take me about an hour to prep and about 45 minutes for post. That was solo with only 20 preloaders."Plenty of pre and post sort "stuff" that needs to get done". Sounds just like me when my manager ask what I do for 5 hours.
Giving up inside industry secrets?Upper management: keep it simple
Center manager: relax they have zero people to put in your spot
On road: pretending to know my route instrkead of working with me only makes your job harder
Dispatch: please please please just pretend like you know what your doing. If what you did yesterday was rotten, the chances that the same plan your running today smells the same.
Part time sups: just shake your head and nod and keep moving. You can't fix anything, and that is why I'm very short with you.
