I curious----what did you friend up that you had to go into management?
I worked at UPS (or anywhere) for one reason only and that was to make money.
Back in the 70's, there was a lot more money in management than in driving, and I was working around 54 hours per week as a driver. Had to take a pay cut to go into management but within 2 years I was making more than I did as a driver plus getting stock bonuses.
It worked out well for me.

Stock bonuses made you the winner. I remember all the contracts we tried to get the company to let us BUY stock.

Oh definitely!
I would not have stayed with UPS after getting out of college except for the lure of the stock ...
and the fact that the Engineering company I worked for, that offered me a job, was not that profitable and stable.
I was already bored with engineering anyway. Very tedious and boring job.

To be devious ,underhanded, and incompetent like management.
AGREED
Hardly "Incompetent" ... I've seen many driver's "reasoned thinking" on here.
As for devious and underhanded, pretty much the same observations.
Not as many mangement get fired for "devious and underhanded" as non-management.
