This is close to where I work. Is it time to start arming ourselves?
Only if you want to find another place of employment.
Happens in my town all the time or should I say has happened. If you're smart, regardless of the rules of ups or the law itself, if your life is or could be in danger, protect yourself accordingly.
Who cares about that at that point. if it's my life or theres, I'm going out swinging.
By complying with the criminal as the driver in the news report did. Bringing a weapon to work is a guaranteed way to be terminated.
I'd protect myself by handing them the keys.
They aren't looking to kill you, they are looking to take the truck, let them have it and get out of their way.
Yeah but you know what smart bank robbers do. They kill everyone in the bank so there's no one to take the stand against them. You never know now days what people are thinking.
And showing them exactly how to start it.
I'm not saying I wouldn't do that. I'm saying if it was a life or death matter, protect yourself to the fullest extent. The gun laws in my area are so piss poor its not even funny.
Yeah that's the funniest part when they rob you for a truck they cant figure out how to start.
...pointing to the ten point commentary on the bulkhead door for their safety.
Wonder what "other work" selection to code that as?
You can COMPLY all you want.
Still won't save your life if the gunman starts shooting.
I'm no hero for the company. If it's between me and company property........ well they have insurance.
What do you mean piss poor?
I live in Illinois the home of "gun laws". All it does is hurt those that follow the law.
Piss poor as in the conceal and carry law is nowhere near as relevant as if should be. Open conceal and carry should be permitted in all states at all time.
Exactly I could care less about anything ups owns. if it's my valuable property or my money, I'll die fighting to keep it.
Ok. Yeah Illinois just passed conceal carry but the list of places you can carry is very short.
Yeah everyone should have the right and privelage, unless you revoke that privelage. The world would be much safer.
It's pretty troubling that it looked to be a nice suburban neighborhood where this incident took place, and not a ghetto city. Can happen anywhere sadly. I've never heard of this happening myself.
