I used AVG a long time ago but noticed it did seem to miss some threats. It got kind of bloated and yeah too many annoying pop ups. Avast is a lot better. A few nags but not as many.

I periodically will scan with Malwarebytes to clean up anything antivirus might have missed. And I will always scan a new computer to clean out the crapware.

No, @tonyexpress got a virus on his computer several months ago and took it in to the geek squad to get it cleaned up. They installed Trend Micro and Express Vpn. The licenses allow them to be installed on 10 computers, so I switched mine over to those too.
