You need to realize that the union by defination is a socialist organisation. Everyone is equal. Everyone gets X, and everyone who is here X number of years gets Y in addition to X. same pay after 4 years currently, 1 week vaca after 1 year, 2 weeks after 2, 3 weeks after 5 etc.
You need to realize your don't know what socialism is.

If ever you unfortunately lose your job at UPS with no way to get it back, I hope your position on the matter remains the same as it does today. Wait times are longer but that's because people actually go to the doctor. I dont know how many people die every year because they can't afford to go to the doctor in America, but people in Canada actually get up and go! There never is a wait line for me when I go to the doctor and it always makes me wonder how many people are at home needing treatment but aren't in the lobby alongside me.
It's called get another job.
SMH.
By the way, I respect your opinion. We can agree to disagree.
As a rule I never agree with people that I disagree with so we're going to have to disagree about whether or not to agree about disagreeing.

The point stands. If not FedEx, maybe your local Walmart could offer you a job. You would have the freedom to opt into their benefit plan so long as you're willing to spend a third of your minimum wage paycheck on their incredible health benefits.
I'm sorry you have such little self worth that you consider walmart and FedEx your best options if you were to lose your job.

Sounds pretty affordable to me
  • All eligible associates – both full- and part-time – have affordable options that include no lifetime maximum and eligible preventive care covered at 100%.
  • We offer medical plans starting at around $26 per pay period, as well as dental and vision plans.
  • Coverage for domestic partners is available.

  • Associates have free access to nurse care managers and health care advisors.
  • Health reimbursement plans provide $300 to $1,000 and our health savings account plan gives up to a $700 match to help pay for eligible network or non-network medical expenses.

The fight is in who you elect, and these people are not hiding what they are planning.

They get the votes and Teamcare is out. Your paycheck is the same but now you are forced to fund new taxes to pay fot the program.
if you copy the french model you will get better healthcare and can eliminate income taxes entirely. your current system is terribly inefficient. its sad u believe in maintaining it.

point to a country which has good outcomes and anything close to a privatized system while remaining affordable and universal

A union is a socialist organization. That’s how they operate. Two people start a job same day, for the rest of their careers they will be paid the same. Even if one is the best worker and the other is the worst worker. Union’s are socialist organizations and those who don’t work hard like unions. They can be lazy and still get paid. See teachers and cops.
