Similar reason why no country will make a deal with Trump. His proven his word is meaningless. Iran won’t even talk to him since he bailed on the agreement we signed. Refusing to live up to your end of an agreement really puts a damper on future negotiations.

Iran wasn't living up to that agreement either.

Yep. Because if we don't, they'll have to start making deals with Assad, Iran and Russia in order to survive if Turkey comes in to wipe them out of northern Syria. Would be a shame to lose the Kurds as a pretty secular and forward-thinking ally in that region. Especially since Turkey has been a terrible NATO member and Erdogan a thug.

Your post highlights the complexities of the region , issues that go back thousands of years and should not have our troops planted in the middle of them.

Other than the typical Trump run on sentences, his remarks seemed pretty straightforward.

“We interject ourselves into wars and we interject ourselves in to tribal wars and revolutions and all these things that are very — they’re not the kind of things that you settle the way that we’d like to see it settled. It just doesn’t work that way."
