Early 80's it was 14.21. It didn't go up much for several years.

When I started off the street in Oct. of 1975 I was making 5.30 an hour. I made seniority Jan. of 1976.
Then it took me 30 days to make top rate. REPEAT. 30 DAYS TO MAKE TOP RATE. Yes I hate wage
progression. One of the biggest Teamster give aways ever. Anyway top rate was 5.89 an hour.

Every driver I talk to says full scale driver pay has kept up with inflation and that's about it.

So wages are going to slightly differ around the country.


1968:

Part-time $3.01

Drivers and Sorters $3.81

Top Feeder rate $3.98


1976:

Part-time $6.17

Drivers and Sorters $7.86

Top Feeder Rate $8.21


1979: (plus a .35 Cola)

Part-time $9.08

Drivers and Sorters $10.77

Top Feeder Rate $11.22


1982:

Part-time $11.87

Drivers, Pre-Loaders, and Sorters $13.56

Top Feeder Rate $14.11


*Part-time hired after 7/2/82*

Sorters and PreLoad $9.00

Others $8.00
