Where is Your Retirement Destination?

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
Plan is AZ but that can change easily. We own a small place out there right now but looking to upgrade and have someone else pay it off before we retire.

We've talking about also having a small place like in MT to go to for summers. Really wish I was able to retire right now. House has went up 300k in a little over a year. Would be nice to sell it and move but no can do.
MT is a beautiful place. Wyoming too

Don’t move to New Zealand. They’re not big fans of Americans. My sister lived there for two years and got tired of being treated like a second class citizen. And she was surprised at how Socialist they are.
I spent time in both NZ and Australia and liked them both, honestly found people in both places to be pretty friendly and never got an "anti-American" vibe from anyone. Immigrating to NZ is pretty tough these days anyway though unless you've got an advanced degree in a field they need.

My sister used to be a flight attendant and always said the people in New Zealand were the nicest….until she moved there. They act differently when you visit as opposed to living there. You also have to be under a certain age to move there.

They can have it all to themselves as far as I’m concerned.

It's been at least 15 years since I was there so things might have changed, but also I was way down south in Invercargill which is kind of a small town, people are different in the cities.

$300k in a little over a year? That's nuts. I always think about people just starting out with very little. How will they ever be able to afford a home?

It's insane. I can tell you my house is not even close to being worth what I could sell it for right now. A house 6 houses down just last month went for $889k.

I don't want to say what we were offered for this place right after construction was done and we started moving things in last spring. Took us a year and a half to build it. We got most of the material before the lumber and everything went crazy.
We have had several offers since, last week the most recent and the highest. It's not even for sale. Crazy.

Problem with equity is sell high buy high and taxes. Our house has doubled in value in the last 5 years. I would like some more land but raw acreage is about $20k here. Even out in the sticks. I already live an hour away from work.

That's why we aren't selling.
750K profit is tempting. 550K in lot and new house....
So...ya got a million bucks and no where to live. Oh the humanity....
