Working on vacation

If there's contract language that states you can't work on vacation......then it is someone's business. No extra contract agreements are usually written into the contracts. Your thoughts?

it all depends on your mgt team...I like the time off but if I wanted to work. they would allow it over the cover drivers.... I get requests every vacation...... I lafffffff

If that week of vacation was closed out, then anyone below who wanted that week definitely has a gripe (if not a grievance).

In The Southern Supplement we aren't permitted to work our vacations unless we sell them back.

"(G) Vacation selection shall be by seniority within the classification.
The posted vacation schedule shall show the weeks available for
vacation and the number of employees in each classification who
may be on vacation each week. Vacation schedules, by classifica-
tion, shall be posted on October 1st and remain posted for one (1)
month for selection of vacations for the period of January 1st
through December 31st , except for the period of time from the
Monday after Thanksgiving to December 25th . The employees in
the top one-third (1/3rd) of the seniority list will select their vaca-
tions during the first (1st) ten (10) calendar days of posting. The
employees in the second (2nd) one-third (1/3rd) of the seniority list
will select their vacations during the next ten (10) calendar days of
posting. The bottom one-third (1/3rd) of the seniority list will select
their vacations during the remaining ten (10) calendar days of post-
ing.
In lieu of time off, employees, at their discretion, may take the pay
for said weeks. However, the employee must notify the Employer
during September of each year of this request."


"Dislike" all you want but that is the language and that is how it's enforced, as it should be, in my building. And it should be enforced in each and every building covered by the supplement.
