One works in the ER and saves lives on an almost daily basis. The other is working his way up the corporate ladder.

You deliver cardboard boxes using a handheld device that tells you which stop is next, where the box is (supposed to be) loaded and where to leave it. It then tells you where the next stop is.

Do you really think that we deserve to be paid upward of $40/hr for a job that requires only the ability to follow a pre-navigated route?
The RN went to school for 2-4 years. The MBA, 6-8. I worked at UPS busting my ass in a truck for 12 years before I got a shot at driving a tractor. I earned my spot and my wage. The RN and MBA knew what the wage would be for their professions and they accepted it, not my problem. By the way, I was a surgical tech full time in the OR for 5 years while working at UPS waiting for my turn. The hospital work was the easiest job I’ve ever had so you can stop acting like the nurse is some sort of unsung hero.

My siblings have college degrees and use them in their careers while I was the out cast with no college education, make more than them and have better benefits. They will tell you I deserve what I have because I work twice as hard as they do.

Peak is where the money is. Volunteer for a Saturday and make time and half, or double time for every hour you work over sixty. Top rate drivers are able to pull in close to $600 in one day, that’s equal to what a lot of people make in one week (at least those making $15/hr)

I know you’re spending less time with your families and that’s tough, especially during the holidays. Just try to look at the bright side, a lot of you are making more money than highly educated professionals right now.

Nice speech; however, what I couldn't help but notice that you were unable to justify how we deserve to make $100K plus benefits to deliver QVC to hoarders.

I've already explained it to you, we use our bodies. I don't know how much you value your body, but if I lose my knees, or my back, or even my health or my life, my life is worth more than just $40-50K a year.

bull:censored2:, :censored2:. You know better. If it was so easy anybody could do it. And they don’t. Many can’t hack it in the real UPS

During Peak it would generally take me more less than a week to get a new helper up to speed on the DIAD to the point where he/she was able to work independently, even delivering a multiple story medical office complex on his/her own. One of those helpers is still driving today.

Don't talk to me like I am in second grade!

$40/hr for our job is simply absurd!

The 22.4's are the first step by the company to bring your wages more in line with reality.

At this point, you’re just trolling. I don’t even know you yet Im disappointed in you. You’re retired but yet still linger around the UPS forum culture rather than playing tag with your grand kids. But you see? you’re a living testament. Once a UPSer, always a UPSer even when retired.

My discussion on this topic has nothing to do with being a retiree and everything to do with the distorted economics of unionized employees. No way this job merits a wage that will top $40/hr at the end of the current contract. $25-30/hr is much more in line with the responsibilities of this job.

In that case the union should just lock us out and hire off the street. Who knows, maybe there’s an army of Dave’s that will valiantly swoop in with their Nissan Altimas and be happy to do this labor for $25 an hour and no benefits.

I never said no benefits.

fair enough but that’s what a lot of people assume. That this job is EASY at the level we perform. It’s not just the job mechanics themselves, it’s the high standards the company sets and the sheer number of hours and the repetitive nature of the job. It’s draining, completely.

The company should just lock us out if it’s sooooooo simple.

Actually, this job is simple. But simple is not the same thing as easy, not even :censored2:ing close.
