What’s behind UPS’ big bet on Arrival? – Fleet Owner

Electric van maker Arrival has made a noticeable splash as the EV market continues to expand.

The EV market has a lot of players in it. In addition to the traditional manufacturers dipping their toes in the water, tech-focused firms like Nikola, Tesla and Lordstown are each finding ways to differentiate their offerings and capture valuable market share. Of course, the market continues to grow as UK-based Arrival is emerging from its stealth mode.

But, what really makes Arrival different?

Simply put, the company’s leadership team is adamant about reimagining the entire electric vehicle production process — building from a blank slate rather then trying to force EV into traditional designs.

Warwick’s Favorite UPS Driver Tom Dempsey Retires – Warwick Valley Dispatch

UPS drivers are charged with many responsibilities: secure package delivery, excellent customer service, safe driving and problem-solving skills. Chasing down criminals, however, has never appeared in the company’s job description.

Of course, for Tom Dempsey, simply doing his job was never enough. The Warwick resident and recently retired UPS package car delivery personnel (his formal title) looks back on 35 years of delivering way more than just boxes to the businesses and residents of the Village of Warwick.

At the top of his list of many fond and interesting memories is that chilly day in November of 1990 when a young Dempsey apprehended a suspect who was robbing The Inkwell, then located on Main St. Fearless and strong, Dempsey sprinted after the assailant, tackling him to the ground in the South St. Municipal Lot.

eBay Strikes Deal with UPS, Offering Sellers Discounted Shipping – Multi Channel Merchant

eBay has struck a deal with UPS to provide its sellers with discounted shipping, after telling them last month it was aware of service delays with primary carrier the U.S. Postal Service. The major marketplace said the discounts would be available to all of its sellers by the end of September.

“We’re always looking for new ways to ensure our sellers have the tools they need to successfully run their businesses on eBay,” said Marnie Levine, the company’s Vice President of Seller Operations and Engagement in a blog post to its seller community. “Customers want and expect to receive their packages in the fastest and most reliable way possible, which is why our collaboration with UPS comes at such a critical moment. eBay is proud to deliver sellers more choice and flexibility when it comes to their shipping, which also benefits our buyers.”

eBay said sellers can get discounts of up to 48% off UPS Ground shipments and up to 62% off daily rates for UPS 2nd Day Air service, including waived or discounted surcharges. The savings are credited automatically when printing UPS labels through eBay.

UPS driver caught on camera kicking Okolona family’s chihuahua in the face – Wave3

An Okolona woman is outraged after a UPS deliveryman kicked her Chihuahua in the face Saturday.

“My husband was watching it several times last night, and every time I heard Harvey yelp, you know,” a shaken up Michelle Shelton said.

Shelton watched the incident happen from her window, and it was also caught on camera. She had just let her 9-pound chihuahua, Harvey, out on his 15-foot lead.

“My dog never made contact with this guy, never made contact, he was only barking and he kicked the fire out of him,” Shelton said.
