More planes, bigger facilities part of UPS’ peak season plans – Memphis Business Journal

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are in the books, but United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS) has a long peak season ahead of it.

The Atlanta-based package shipper is expecting another record holiday shipping season this year. The company, which bases its UPS Airlines division and its largest air package sorting hub in Louisville, estimates it will move about 800 million packages this holiday season — up from about 762 million last year.
In preparation, it has increased its fleet of aircraft. In the last year, the company has added six Boeing 747-8s and three 767s aircraft, which are based in Louisville.

UPS worker suspected of stealing from package at Fishersville facility – News Leader

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said an employee with the United Parcel Service was reportedly caught stealing from a package earlier this week at the facility, according to an arrest report.

Witnesses said the UPS employee was allegedly taking packages from a conveyor belt and opening them Tuesday at the Fishersville facility on Expo Road, the sheriff’s office said.

The employee reportedly stole about $1,200 worth of jewelry from a package that included a necklace, bracelet and earrings.

UPS drivers plunge into frigid water for Salvation Army – Laconia Daily Sun

A few drivers from United Parcel Service, not willing to accept that the Salvation Army’s fundraising Turkey Plunge was canceled this year, found some chilly water to jump into so they could generate donations for the charitable organization.

This is the Lakes Region, after all, so, when the annual event at Opechee Cove was canceled over concerns about water quality, they simply found another spot — Bartlett Beach on Lake Winnisquam.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, the drivers, in their brown uniforms, dove into the bracingly cold water.

Buffalo shelter dog adopted by UPS driver after unlikely meeting – WKBW

It was love at first sight between Jason Coronado and Ernie.

“He is probably my idea of a perfect dog,” Jason Coronado said.

Coronado is a UPS driver. Ernie is a pitbull-terrier mix and was living in the Buffalo City Animal Shelter.

Coronado was never really planning on getting a dog, but then fate intervened on Oct. 5th. While he was delivering packages, Ernie literally jumped into his life.
