UPS agrees to pay for cleanup to Zionsville man’s property after RTV6 report – RTV6

A Zionsville man says UPS has agreed to clean up the mess they left in his driveway after RTV6 started making calls on his behalf.

Less than an hour after RTV6 started making calls, Jake Edgerton said UPS contacted him and said they were looking back into the case and trying to figure out a resolution.

“I think it finally got their attention,” said Edgerton. “I think it really helps when anytime you involve the media in a message like that. Which is unfortunate, right, because you just want people to do the right thing the first time around.”

Your UPS deliveries may soon arrive in electric trucks – Fast Company

Through its multiple partnerships with EV startups, the company is precipitating a sustainable transformation in the delivery industry.

A new UPS truck now rolling around the streets of London looks like an ordinary delivery vehicle. But at night, the truck plugs into a new smart grid at the company’s hub in the center of the city, where it pulls in enough charge to drive up to 150 miles the next day.

The smart grid and the battery infrastructure inside the truck are made by the U.K.-based startup Arrival. They will soon fully debut in a pilot fleet of custom trucks equipped with other features, including a wraparound front window that makes it easier for a driver to see other vehicles and pedestrians. This pilot is just one piece of UPS’ larger experimentation with electric vehicles.

7 Pro-Labor Stocks to Buy – Investor Place

Back in June, UPS unionized workers were heading for a big strike after the company announced it wanted to make part-time employees, full time, so they could make weekend deliveries.

What’s the big deal?

Well, full-time employees typically earn $36-an-hour, while part-timers make considerably less at $15-an-hour. The company wanted to pay those weekend employees $15-an-hour despite working full-time hours.

Fortunately, for UPS shareholders, the company came to a five-year agreement with the Teamsters, who represent the 250,000 (58% of the total workforce), unionized employees.
