UPS Pilots Ratify New Contract

Agreement passes by wide margin, enhances wages, pension and scheduling

UPS (NYSE:UPS) pilots represented by the Independent Pilots Association today ratified a new labor agreement that becomes amendable Sept. 1, 2021.

The agreement was voted on by 98.7% of the association membership, with 91.6% percent voting to ratify. Terms of the agreement become effective Sept. 1, 2016 and run through Sept. 1, 2021. The contract covers 2,579 pilots at UPS Airlines.

Foundation to award millions in environmental grants

The UPS Foundation, which leads the global citizenship programs for UPS (NYSE: UPS), announced it will award more than $2.6 million in grants to nonprofit organizations focused on environmental sustainability initiatives. This includes a significant grant to twenty-five year partner, The Nature Conservancy, a global organization that works to preserve ecologically important land and water resources through conservation. Other grants will support programs that advance environmental research and education, carbon reduction and energy conservation – all vital to economic growth and community stability.

Bolt from the blue: UPS driver shot in freak crossbow accident – Montgomery Advertiser

A United Parcel Service delivery man was injured in Autauga County when a crossbow bolt flew into the cab of his truck.

The bolt went through his upper right arm and lodged in his right chest, according to Autauga County Sheriff’s Office reports. The driver was taken to Baptist South Medical Center in Montgomery in stable condition with “non-life-threatening injuries,” the reports read.

Teamsters will make that decision this October, in an election contest that pits the seventeen-year incumbent general president James P. Hoffa against challenger Fred Zuckerman, the president of the fifteen-thousand-member Teamsters Local 89 in Louisville, Kentucky, and his Teamsters United reform slate.

UPS Breaks Ground On Louisville Centennial Hub Expansion

$300 million project to triple size, add 300 jobs and increase service capacity for customers. Groundbreaking set for August 25.

The bulldozers are moving earth on UPS’s (NYSE: UPS) latest expansion project, bringing the rest of the Earth even closer to UPS customers in Kentucky and parts of Southern Indiana.

The company’s estimated $300 million investment will triple the size of the package facility to 838,000 square feet, and nearly double current sorting capacity to 85,000 packages per hour. In addition, the project will create a mix of 300 new full and part-time jobs.
