Same guy who called the Obama administration doing this same thing after the 08 recession communism. Not saying either were right or wrong-just pointing out the hypocrisy.

hey sherlock no one believes in markets. look how they are acting!

if we had a market system right now it would be worse than not. we just have to hold the govt's feet to the fire so they are not giving away bailouts when theyre not supposed to.

It is mind boggling.
He had it right the first time IMO. Now here we are doing it again just a decade later. Maybe next time they end up doing it every five years, or every other year..... maybe we just have indefinite government ownership of the means of production.

Orange Head is doing exactly the same thing that he and the cluckers condemned Obama for did when confronted wit the same crisis. Mnuchin said that unemployment would go to 20% or higher and banks could fail. Exactly the same conditions Obama inherited the moment he took the oath..

The irony is found with the cluckers who were out preaching the fears of "socialism" and how government was "too big" and the need to "get government out of our lives" are suddenly all too happy and completely receptive to welcoming that "too big" government to come into their lives and try to save their health, their employment and their savings while holding their hands out to collect full benefits from every New Deal and Great Society social program they could qualify for.....LMAO.

Okay.
Now that you got your little rant out, what are your thoughts about government ownership of the means of production?

Conrail. Not that the government wanted to take it over but somebody had to. Same thing when Roosevelt had to take control of the banks. Nixon's price freeze. When the demand is on government to act in the national best interest and there is no private sector alternative it has to try to do something.

Time to reorganize how people do their grocery shopping.
I'll need a website, a warehouse with multiple doors and a large receiving area.
People will phone in or order online. Payment will be due at this time, credit cards only.
Warehouse employees will fill the order and place them on pallets or in boxes with all the contact info. People will be informed when their order is ready for pickup at a certain door, the door will open, the people may have to or not get out of their vehicles, the items will be loaded into the vehicles and they can simply drive away.
No more looking for a parking spot, a shopping cart and less chances of making contact with anyone else.

What’s the alternative? Let them fail? If so, do we run the risk of near monopolies in industries?

Look, if a company goes bankrupt after a two week or even a one month shutdown, maybe they should be out of business. I’m jus not sure what happens if an entire industry goes belly up. I’m starting to think I wouldn’t mind seeing it though.

The one thing I am completely tired of is companies bailed out and then gouging consumers. Let me go.

How is giving government ownership of the company, holding their feet to the fire? It's giving them exactly what they want, more power.
arent they just giving money away?

i dont think everyone should go bankrupt, but maybe like reich said dont bail out cruise ships, hotels, casinos, airlines.

So the government forces a company to shut down, effectively bankrupting them.

Then they offer to solve the problem they created, if the company simply gives up ownership.

How is this not a path to communism?

Kudlow Floats U.S. Government Equity Stakes in Companies Helped

Comrade Kudlow is a Communist? But, wait!! He's Trump's top economic advisor, right? Yeah, the one with the incredibly bad track record. Same fellow, right? And Trump is his boss and agrees with everything Kudlow says because Trump's understanding of economic policy is about the same as a puppy.

We are in GREAT hands. And Trump is now a Commie by default. Vlad and Xi will be pleased. Oh, and so will Fat Boy over in NK.

Geez you are ridiculous. If you've followed my posts about it you can see that I've emphasized over and over that this is very serious. Both Newfie(conservative) and ItWillBeFine(liberal) have ridiculed me for taking it seriously. Leave it to you to assume things and shoot off your mouth. But for the record the Spanish Flu infected 500 million out of 1.5 Billion people on Earth before it ran it's course. It killed quickly in a very harsh manner and an estimated 50-100 million died. The reason I pointed it out was because you said we've never seen a virus this bad in our history. Wrong! If the Spanish Flu came around today and killed 20% of the infected and infected a third of the world we'd be looking at over 500,000,000 million dead. And since we're packed in together in places like India and China probably even worse than that. Try learning a few things instead of thinking you automatically know everything. Reading is a good start.

How are we "drama queens", sir? We don't even know what this virus is yet or how many it could kill, so your statement about the Spanish Flu is ill-informed. What if it persists and there is no cure?

All a big unknown right now.

Name one virus in history that just keeps going and going exponentially? They all run their course and at worst there are flu flare ups during the "season" that die down too. You are promoting ill informed panic. Take a breath and calm down. At pandemic levels this obviously is a bad virus. But don't turn it into something it's not.

Nobody knows what it is and how long it will last. You are promoting ill informed complacency. Sure, it might behave as you describe, but perhaps not. When there's an effective treatment or vaccine, it would be controlled. Until then, it's a unknown.

Letting them fail is absolutely an option.

But you're missing the point.
The government forced them to shutdown.

Forcing the company into bankruptcy and then demanding ownership to save them? Sounds like a huge power grab to me.
