I spent almost 200k the last 9 years and I do not regret it at all
We can't take it with us so I am enjoying the fruits of my labor instead of someone else
just out of curiosity what did you spend it on? we don't need a new car or truck, don't want to travel overseas. we don't know how to spend big money because we were just frugal out of habit for over 30 years.

the biggest thing we splurge on is eating out which we do 2-3 times a week , if that.

That would be like asking your center manager when you should retire.

Upstate reminds me of a 20 year old rookie sometimes. Why he thinks the SS office would tell him anything but delay taking SS is beyond me. Hell-they don't want anyone taking early SS. That would just make the pot dry up faster and they would be out of a job sooner.

A nice RV, a couple 3 months trips to Alaska, many others around Montana, Wyoming, couple east coasters, Napa valley, Texas, Many Many National Parks, the list goes on and on. Flying grandkids out here from Jersey and Texas, camping with them etc etc, casino time, just whatever we felt like doing. We have been thinking about RV travel since 93 when we got married and toured the National Parks out west. Love Native American culture and their surroundings, Just doing and not worrying because tomorrow may never come, and when it does, we won't be sayin, Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Big money to you and myself are going to be looked at in a different light. being frugal is ok but I hate when I read about some old guy who croaks, living without cable, a cell phone, any modern luxuries and they find 2-3 million in his bank acct. WTF. People commenting that they thought he was homeless or something to that effect, Living miserly for your whole life for what? We don't do overseas, eating out too much, not into cruises or beaches, The Old Wild West history leaves us plenty to explore out here in AZ. Couldn't get out of Jersey fast enough, retired 1/1/08 settled into our new home in AZ 5/2/08. Life is good..........as long as you are breathing

You remind me of the pathetic old guy sitting in his favorite bar stool at 2 in the afternoon boring the "regulars" with stories of a company that no longer exists.

That is so awesome! This is how I'd love to live out my retirement years (whenever I get there).

Before you know it, your time will come. Looking back I find it hard to believe that I will be retired 10 years on 1/1/18. And remembering my 1st peak in 81, in a beat up P-600 Tank, with wooden shelves, a tight opening wooden bulkhead door that gave me splinters, crappy lighting in the back, crappy heater, wipers, seat, high steps, sheeting packages with carbon paper between the sheets, pens that froze up while sheeting in the winter and of course bulked out front to rear, where did the time go? It flies, just make sure you are in the 401k or something like it in addition to hopefully your monthly pension check. Good Luck just hang in there

No way----I only talk shop on here ----just to bug you. Have I told you lately how much personal stuff I've hauled in a UPS truck?

I probably hauled as much as you did. Empty beer kegs, bales of straw for planting grass, flats of strawberries, corn on the cob, a cement mixer (my on car sup helped me unload it, I used cod cash to pay for it), trays of hoagies that were fundraisers for athletic association, plumbing supplies when I finished our basement. These were in my package car.

In my MT feeder trailer, building supplies. The guys at 84 Lumber weren't used having anything that big from UPS on the lot.

That's enough for now!
