Depends on the school district but they are basically paid to get one.

Its really easy to get a teaching degree. All it takes is a couple of college classes and dancing through a few hoops.

I have a buddy who is a teacher in rural Missouri. As a principal he will make less than most Illinois teachers in their last few years.
His mom was principal at this school too. She left to be superintendent at a large Kansas City school her last 5 years. Makes more with her pension than she did 90% of her career.

My daughter doesn’t have a teaching degree and she substitutes. She said in order to get a teaching degree, she’d need to go to school for two years. She keeps going back and forth on it as to whether she wants it that bad.

Its harder than it used to be but best if you start doing it while you are still in school. A lot of it is things like internships that are more time consuming than anything else.

So let’s only reward those that took out a ton of debt with no possible way to pay it back. Smh yeah I don’t think someone making 30k is gonna be adding much to the economy.
Relieve 50k worth of debt for the doctors and the lawyers though and that’ll free up lots of money for the economy.

My youngest daughter has told me of multiple very good teachers who regrettably left her school while she was there for the county next to ours. Their pay bumped up $20,000.
