Flying jets is kind of boring except take off and landing. Punch the route into the FMS, take off turn the autopilot on and don't touch it again until you're a few miles from the runway on final approach.

That's why I like the sims. Have a little fun. A former flight instructor of mine is a First Officer for Delta on the 747 and he had an extra hour in the sim paid for and they failed 3 of his engines 20 miles from the runway just to see if he could make it.
a 747 with 1 engine is a flying brick?

I don't know what I'd do if ClerkGirl came to me tomorrow and was like "I'm pregnant!"

I can tell you what I'd do.

Sort of. In that scenario you have to figure out if that engine is even worth it. If it is your outboard it is creating a lot of yaw. You have to pretty much just idle it and you pitch the nose for best glide. Basically point the nose like 10 degrees up and aim for an airspeed. Should be around 200 in a 747. He actually made the runway. But his vertical speed was so high he landed like brick and broke the nose gear. He was afraid to use power on landing because he didn't want to cartwheel.

You'd be good.

We tried for the first, and the second was kind of a surprise. It's amazing how soon you come around into the parent mode.

Same with grandkids. I was perfectly fine without any, but now with three (and one coming), it's exciting as hell. I love it.
