You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
And so it begins. My granddaughter who was in gymnastics was told they wanted her to drop out of 4th grade and become homeschooled so she could devote 7 hours a day to the program. Thank god my daughter had sense enough to convince the kid to join competitive cheerleading instead.
My high school math teacher daughter was home schooled and spent 7-10 hours a day training from about 7-18. The Olympic coaches asked her to move into their facility but the mom wouldn’t let her go.

Was kind of crazy it was like all that time and money. That was the goal all along and when it came time to send her away she couldn’t do it.

Injuries started in around 16/17 and nagged her until she quit her junior year of college. 3 years of gymnastics at Alabama and think she competed in 2 meets.

That’s the way it usually plays out. They brainwash them little girls into believing they are going to be Olympic gold medal winners. If you aren’t injured you aren’t trying hard enough.

I mean this girl was legit. She had an uneven bar dismount that no one in the world did. But yeah injuries. The way they train has def changed in the last decade or so.

The way it’s looking now Ava is gonna be pushing 6 feet tall. No gymnast that tall. This is simply for winter exercise, learning to follow instructions and building strength/coordination.

Give the poor kid a trophy.
Everyone gets a ribbon with a participation medal on it. Also everyone who attends the official competitions is expected to buy a stuffed animal as a good luck token and some flowers for the little darlings. It’s all a big racket.
