Actually, KIA is part of Hyundai. Like Honda and Acura. It seems to be a quality made ride. The interior plastic is still a little hard but whatever, if I wanted the plastic to feel like a freshly tanned ass, I would have bought a luxury car.
Which one is the "luxury" brand?

Cosmo is right in that when both Hyundai and Kia first started selling here in the states the quality was sub par at best. Both have really stepped up their games. I test drove the Optima before deciding to lease another Altima.
I remember the crappy cars they first put out here. My mother had a Hyundai Excel. It resembled a knock off version of a Toyota Corolla and the dash peeled up and the door panels fell off with a good slam. She traded it for a much nicer car, the YUGO, and thankfully I was too young to drive either at the time and one winter, a plow came and totaled her Yugo.

She got an Accord after that.

My first post retirement gig was as a detailer at a local BMW dealership. I got to drive the 2019 version of this:

The sticker was only $169K.

If you want a cheapish car that will run forever, Corolla is the ticket.

When we were still married my ex and I both had Hyundai's------she had the Accent and I had the Excel. They got us from Point A to B but were certainly nothing like they make today.

How many gigs you have since retirement. That is at least 2, if you are not working, now.

I worked very briefly for Enterprise before landing the job as a detailer. I would still be there had they not decided to outsource the department------every morning a van pulls up, drops off 2-3 employees and comes back to get them in the afternoon. I suppose it does save them money but from what I have heard the quality has gone downhill. I am currently taking an income tax course through H&R Block and have been hired as a seasonal tax preparer.

Just a seasonal thing? or for long term?
