California increase in minimum wage

Maybe the increased minimum wage is part of an overall effort to at least slow the increase in the demand for publicly funded services. There is only so much money to go around for public services and so perhaps California is trying to find a way to boost incomes to above the threshold for eligibility.

My area has been invaded by immigrants who are provided with free housing (hotels) and healthcare.

These are publicly funded services.

In the meantime there are people (citizens) I know with full time jobs who often struggle with job and housing insecurity.

As with my observations at Fedex, and exactly as with observations of my state of California, I know a feces-show when I see it.

Gosh if socialism is such an evil in your opinion then why haven't you refused to apply for SOCIAL Security and that evil national old age SOCIALIZED healthcare system called Medicare?

I believe that publicly funded social programs create a permanent underclass of people because they stay in that system from childhood until death. People are born into it from an idiot loser dad, and a promiscuous moonbat for a mother. Those children become adults and recreate exactly what their idiot parents did because that is all they know!

Social Services should be for the disabled and old people. Not for cradle to grave.

And California is sending a message to employers statewide...."If you're going to make money off that worker's hard labor then by god you're going to pay him enough so that he's no longer a permanent recipient of California social program benefits. The system is not designed to serve as a wage and benefit subsidy that you dogs offspring can get rich off of".

UPS has always had higher wages due to their union contracts. When I first started, I waited almost 6 months to get a callback because the job was coveted. Historically it has been a job that was coveted and more difficult to get. The Covid craziness created a sense of unending hiring and unending packages. This is more of a return to normalcy with a downturn in shipping throughout the industry which is cyclical, and will stabilize eventually. It is nothing like telling a whole state that you have to pay these wages. on paper, it sounds great. In theory it will cause job loss and inflation in prices.

You didn't fight to organize UPS. It was as easy as signing a piece of paper for you. I don't go to Chipotle anyway. I prefer authentic Mexican food from Mexican and Latino venders.
