California increase in minimum wage

You didn't fight to organize UPS. It was as easy as signing a piece of paper for you. I don't go to Chipotle anyway. I prefer authentic Mexican food from Mexican and Latino venders. 😂
No, I didn’t have to fight it was already done for me. I do continue the fight here to help continue it as well as I have fought other places to help organize.. but I guess that’s your argument that it’s socialism? do you have a point here or are you just incapable of realizing that your point is silly?
And great if you don’t think that every restaurant will be affected by this, then you’re as naïve as they come.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
UPS has always had higher wages due to their union contracts. When I first started, I waited almost 6 months to get a callback because the job was coveted. Historically it has been a job that was coveted and more difficult to get. The Covid craziness created a sense of unending hiring and unending packages. This is more of a return to normalcy with a downturn in shipping throughout the industry which is cyclical, and will stabilize eventually. It is nothing like telling a whole state that you have to pay these wages. on paper, it sounds great. In theory it will cause job loss and inflation in prices.
6 Months for me too.

The right to join and form a union is mandated by the government. It is socialism. You're just trying to argue semantics.
Socialism is a political and economic system that involves the public ownership of property and the means of production.

Please explain how unions are socialistic.

Maybe the increased minimum wage is part of an overall effort to at least slow the increase in the demand for publicly funded services. There is only so much money to go around for public services and so perhaps California is trying to find a way to boost incomes to above the threshold for eligibility.
No....My nephew qualifies for subsidized housing where he lives in the Bay. Low income is regarded as anyone that makes below $90k. A $20/hr min wage is not going to get you anywhere near $90 grand.

Gosh if socialism is such an evil in your opinion then why haven't you refused to apply for SOCIAL Security and that evil national old age SOCIALIZED healthcare system called Medicare?
You mean they shouldn't take the specific benefits that were promised to them in exchange for being forced to pay for them?

The one thing I hear out of MAGA's all the time is how evil publicly funded social programs are because they are well, socialism and it's the other guy collecting benefits who is undeserving of them but the benefits they themselves are collecting under the same programs the same legislation and the same eligibility requirements....well, those are perfectly fine. In their opinion not a thing the matter with them because they are the ones drawing the benefits.
No. We oppose publicly funded social programs because they are woefully inefficient and terribly expensive. You can split hairs about who should get them and who shouldn't, but the bottom line is that they cost a fortune and don't work as promised.

And California is sending a message to employers statewide...."If you're going to make money off that worker's hard labor then by god you're going to pay him enough so that he's no longer a permanent recipient of California social program benefits. The system is not designed to serve as a wage and benefit subsidy that you dogs offspring can get rich off of".
And my message to the state of California would be that my payroll budget can't afford whatever arbitrary wage they've chosen so I'll just cut my employees' hours and benefits until it does.

The great fallacy of these ideas is that no one will react to them.

It is a worthless provision that will only hurt the bottom tier people barely scraping by now. Now they will have no job and at the very least fewer job opportunities. 🤷‍♂️

Social Security payroll contributions are the only retirement contributions that are federally insured. Got something that beats that Dano.....tell us all about it.

If your nephew isn't rich.....it's his fault. It's the GOP's most basic position when it comes to matters of public policy. In fact it's their ONLY position when it comes to matters of public policy.

And just how many people are currently on YOUR payroll Dano?.

California has had 40 governors. Want to guess how many of them were Republicans?.....The answer?.....20.
And? There’s been one in the last 23-24 years? And I would hardly consider Arnold Schwarzenegger a staunch conservative lol.
The point here is everything that has happened in California lays straight at the feet of the Democrat party. I’m assuming California is happy with what’s happening because they keep voting for them so that’s their choice.

I guess being the world's 5th largest economy also lays straight at the feet of the democratic party. 🤙

I guess so. I guess a shrinking middle-class and homes being out of reach for the majority of the next generation is also at their feet. 🤷‍♂️ but I’m glad that you understand that the California government is in bed with the big corporations.

Wait a minute aren’t you the same genius that said unions are socialism lol. I think you can sit down over there in the corner while the big boys talk.
