Can anyone explain what this paragraph is saying but in plain English?

Your dr wants to clear you
But is unsure of how it will go
You request 5 days light duty basically before you return to work to see how it goes

If you've been out for 6 months or more on workmans comp you can request a week of "work hardening" 5 days of 8 hour days. The request will have to be made before you come back so that the company can calculate those days into the number of 8 hour requests they are obligated to allow per day.

It means that they cannot force you on a full route the first day back after an injury if you request work hardening.

You will get your 8 hours, but will do TAW for a week to get you conditioned to being back full time, before they throw you back on a route.
