The next contract will force a 37% increase in stops per car and a 26.6% decrease in wages for everyone.
The future of UPS is at stake with this contract.
If the Teamsters don't cooperate UPS will run out of money in 3 years and fold up like a cheap Walmart tent

The ability for the contract to cause lay-offs would probably be if there is a strike and we lose business but lay-offs could happen at any time if the economy turns. I wouldn't worry about it too much but I would make sure you have a strike fund and I wouldn't be buying any new toys or big houses until you see how things pan out in August.

There exist an infinite number of reasons that could lead to permanent lay off's.

No, there is only one reason for a layoff. Lower volume. But many reasons can lead to lower volume.

And what constitutes lower volume? Mondays are a crap show with Saturday ground. Regardless of volume, the same routes are cut. Stop drinking brown koolaid.

Longer planned days/more stops per car is a bigger reason for layoffs where I am.
