We had a driver lose his job over a shipment which would have cost him only $18.

And there is the difference between the cost, and what a customer pays. An oven door for a stove is probably a buck and a few cents. yet the customer paid 100 or more. So to them we are a big clumsy lummox.

Good point. If we stop a damage before delivery and it is our fault we pay wholesale for replacement----if we deliver it, a damage claim is filed and it is our fault, we pay retail for replacement.
