  10. detmaintainer

    detmaintainer Detroit Maintenance Rat

Metro Detroit Janitors Motor City Lodge Local 698
    effective 8-1-2019
    Janitor $36.20
    Journeyman Mechanic $38.21
    Trailer Mechanic $33.58
After 30 years a janitor will have made $163,488 more dollars than a trailer rat assuming a 40 hour week.
Another thing the way the IAM and teamsters negotiate wages is closing the pay gap between skilled and unskilled labor. At one time the wage rates for janitors and journeyman were $6.00 and $8.01 respectively
If the union would have negotiated percentage based raises there would be reasonable pay difference between janitors and journeymen. A new part timer is getting a raise that is 2 to 3 times the full timers raise percentage wise.

$37 exactly for package in NorCal. Our Union negotiated lifetime benefits after 5 years of FT service for an 89¢ per hour rate. So instead of $37.89, we're at $37 exactly. Local 315.

that's a shame.......in most parts of the country gas is 2.75 and a nice 2 bedroom house is 300k with corresponding taxes..........california is way high with many towns and citys on the verge of going bankrupt.......fiscal irresponsibility......what is needed in the contract is an area adjustment......management has it......

Prices are high but $899K for a 2 bedroom is exaggerating. There's only two or three cities in the entire region where those prices are reality. Obviously SF is one, and Mountain View and surrounding areas are others. The rest of the region you can get a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house for somewhere around 6-700K. High, but it's not 900K for a 2 bedroom.
