GPS and the diad

Did upstate get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and then have an equally bad day today?

My on car was telling me about an accident in our district once. He was telling me how they were able to see if the screen on the diad was lit up when a driver struck another vehicle.

I knew they could do that but I always wondered if there had been a query to the DIAD just before the accident would show it as active even if the driver wasn't using it. A false positive.

He said they'd try to use it against the driver. If it was lit up. Distracted driving. Also, dishonesty. Whether or not the driver admitted to looking at it while driving.
