They might not if the media keeps shining the spotlight on how goofy and unmanageable FedEx Ground actually is....

If UPS uses their lobbying powers and advertising dollars to highlight the ridiculous structure FedEx has created, basically creating indentured servitude for profit, then they may well be able to crush FedEx corp.

FedEx employees sure wont be running to the media saying how great it is, most of us would just slam the company....

If UPS however tried using its powers to fight the union, then all that wasted energy and money will be incentive for Smith to move in for the kill....

The next few years sure will be critical.
I hope UPS takes the moral high road vs the Slash and Burn policy that Fedex corp has taken towards their employees.
FedEx is continuing to crush the lives of its employees, UPS can win the hearts, minds, and money of America if it plays its cards right...

I like the indentured servitude part. 60hrs per week for a flat low rate or $10-$12 w/no benefits sounds like a recipe to create future bootstrapping "job creators" for sure.A big part of the scam is that the taxpayers get to subsidize all of this in the form of higher insurance premiums and taxes. Why don't all of you Conservatives out there attack Job Creator Smith for scamming our system and forcing us to pay more so he (Smith) can make more?

It's called Corporate Welfare, and FedEx is a huge recipient of it.

At least he is being honest with them. We hire complete idiots. Give the inadequate training, broken down vehicles, dysfunctional power pads and no support. Then tear em down for having service failures.
